The second promotion is named after Marie-Louise Paris:
Marie-Louise Paris (1889–1969) was a pioneering French engineer who founded the l’Institut électro-mécanique féminin in 1925, which later became the École polytechnique féminine and is now the EPF School of Engineering. Born in Besançon, she pursued her studies in Paris and graduated as an engineer in 1921. With the support of prominent scientists and engineers like Paul Langevin and Gabriel Koenigs, Paris was able to create a technical college exclusively for women. She initially operated the school within the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (CNAM) before expanding it into the École polytechnique féminine in 1933. Under her leadership, the school moved to several locations before finally settling in Sceaux in 1956. Her efforts significantly advanced women’s access to technical education in France.
The defences took place in September and October, 2024, some pics below.
