The master program includes advanced experimental projects on new network software, protocols, IoT systems and architectures. They represent a unique experience to learn hot new technologies, and increase master student expertise and competitiveness.

6 weeks after the beginning of the 2nd year master courses, the training unit USEEK8 “Advanced Experimental Networks/IoT Projects” starts to develop and discover in detail some of the technologies mentioned in these advanced courses of the 1st semester:

  • Network Evolutions with Virtualzation and Automation (NEVA): where we teach evolutions of IP core and edge networks towards NFV, 5G, MEC and SDN. This year it includes the technical programme of the IEEE CLOUDNET 2022 Main Conference
  • Embedded Systems: Applications and Cybersecurity (ESAC): an advance module on the design of advanced embedded systems for IoT Applications, including the evolution of operating systems and real-time systems, and secure element design in future IoT environmentS. This year it includes a tutorial from Intel Corporation on novel security and algorithmic challenges emerging with quantum computing.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Networks and IoT (AIML): where we teach basics of applied statistics, machine learning and AI (supervised, unsupervised), ML ops frameworks and applications. This year it includes a tutorial by Meta AI (Facebook) on Tiny ML, that is the algorithmic constraints emerging when applying AIML to IoT systems.

The projets are organized in different steps, and corresponding to three milestones with oral presentation and technical demonstrations

  • Base specifications
  • Mid-term (state of the art, analysis, preliminary design, initial experiments)
  • Final defence (reviewed analysis, finalized design, completed experiments, technical demonstration).

Few weeks after the final defence, the deliverable are updated to further improve the outcome.
