🌟 The Class of 2026 proudly bears the name of Alice Recoque (1929–2021), a remarkable French computer scientist and pioneer of computing and artificial intelligence. Born in Cherchell, Algeria, she contributed to the development of some of France’s earliest computers, including the CAB 500, before leading the design of the Mitra family of minicomputers, notably the Mitra 15 (1971), which was used as a node in CYCLADES, one of the pioneering networks that helped shape the Internet, as well as in telephone switching systems. In the 1980s, she advanced research in parallel computing and artificial intelligence, particularly expert systems and fuzzy logic. She also contributed to the work of the CNIL from its creation in 1978 and played an important role in French and European scientific institutions. Her legacy is now celebrated through the European exascale supercomputer named in her honour and her selection among the 72 women scientists whose names are to be added to the Eiffel Tower in 2026. By dedicating this graduating class to Alice Recoque, we honour not only her extraordinary scientific contributions but also her pioneering spirit, her determination, and her enduring inspiration for future generations of engineers and researchers.
